In The Northern Territory
These photo's were taken in July 1995.

Above and below Katherine Gorge which was so pure the local town of Katherine used the water from the Gorge in its water supply without purifying it. The Gorge was inhabitant to a lot of crocodiles, but this didn't stop us swimming and canoeing in it. Mainly due to the fact that the crocs were fresh water ones that don't grow very big - and eat fish not people.


Above and below, the misnamed Alligator River which is in Kakadu National Park. This was not safe to swim in as its inhabitants are the rather larger saltwater crocs (like on the croc page). This river was better appreciated by a somewhat larger boat than a canoe.
